After the implementation of the new electronic tolling system, the vehicles with a total technically permissible maximum mass over 3,5 tons will have to pay toll taxes. These are heavy goods vehicles and buses. These road vehicles will no longer be charged a vignette fee.
The toll tax will be determined by the following factors: road class, distance traveled, category and emission class of the vehicle and number of axles.
There are two groups of vehicles that will pay tolls on a distance basis:
- Road vehicles for the transportation of passengers with a total technically permissible maximum mass exceeding 3,5 tons . This category includes buses with 2, 3, 4 or more axles;
- Road vehicles for the transportation of goods with two or more axles of a total technically permissible maximum mass with a trailer exceeding 3,5 tons.
To all of these vehicles ITS (Intelligent traffic systems AD) will offer the most modern and convenient solution for payment of tolls in Bulgaria.
